Hi

I know my profile might seem a bit on the "wordy" side but please, I'd seriously appreciate if you took time to read it before you reply / message me. I like to get things upfront and understood and not have yours or my time wasted!

Me? I'm a bewildering contradiction, but I'm never dull. Conversation & communication are all. I will quite happily hold a Who Is The Coolest Cop On TV debate, or discuss the philosophies of Aristotle vs Plato. But I will never do the kind of politely meaningless cocktail-party chit-chat of the middle classes. ( And by the way, SSA Emily Prentiss is the coolest cop on TV! ) I'm intelligent in a well-read always-curious way rather than an ivory-tower intellectual way. I'm dryly darkly humorous, sometimes sarcastic, down-to-earth, full of ideas, possess a shade of the gothic about me, and I don't crave more than I can afford. I'm not jealous, possessive, nor covetous of what others have. I don't care what your job is or how much money you earn, I don't want your money and I have no interest in status. A person is defined by so much more than their job or their possessions. I keep myself fit but I don't make a fetish out of it. I do it for much the same reason I try to eat sensibly and don't smoke or drink alcohol, it's just better for my health. You're more likely to find me in a coffee shop than in a bar these days. I don't do sports tho' I might watch the odd tennis or ice hockey match, and tho' I love a good, rugged view from the window, as far as I'm concerend the outdoors is what you scrape off your shoe when you come inside. For me it's your thoughts, opinions, ideas etc that make you an interesting person. I'm a non-transitioning transgender-identified person, kind of gentleman-butch-andro-boi, very much in touch with my inner gay man! I dislike labels on people and their sexuality. It can be a strange, between-the-worlds existence for me since I don't wholly identify with or live either the gay or the straight lifestyle and issues. Good side to that is I don't do the dramas either! I'm upfront about how I feel - which means you'll know if I'm p****d at you, but you can also know that if I give you a compliment it's because I want to and I mean it, not because I have some hidden agenda.

I love movies & TV. Sometimes I'll surprise myself with a movie I like tho' I never seem to like the 'worthy' movies, you know the thing ... Otherwise I'll watch pretty much anything from Casablanca and Double Indemnity to Underworld and Wrong Turn. I still laugh myself silly at National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation no matter how many times they trot it out on TV. I'm that geek has all the movie-buff books and can reel off every movie Joan Crawford ever made! TV-wise I like shows such as Fringe, The X Files, Buffy, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, Justified, CSI ( Miami & Vegas ), Criminal Minds, NCIS, Bones, Flash Forward, Glee, Burn Notice, Dexter, The Mentalist, Desperate Housewives, Dollhouse, Saving Grace. I loathe reality shows with a passion that approaches the psychotic! My "pin-ups" are Eliza Dushku, Paget Brewster, Gillian Anderson, Marcia Cross, Tamara Taylor, Sigourney Weaver, Ava Gardner, and Rita Hayworth. Hey, I like variety!

So long as there are books in the world to be read I can be certain that I will never know what boredom is. I am Constant Reader. The library and the second-hand bookshop are my Aladdin's caves. I read everything - philosophy, psychology, theology, criminology, forensics, travel, movies, history, paranormal ... Fiction, I tend toward thrillers & horror. I was a mad keen fan of Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse novels long before the TV series. I also like Greg Iles, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Christopher Moore, Richard Montanari, James Lee Burke, and Stuart M Kaminsky.

I like vampires, the Occult, pretty gals who know how to wield a weapon, art, architecture, ecology, antique & classic cars, anything with the Playboy bunny logo on it, dusty old museums and creepy old castles, and theology. I'm currently studying theology tho' weirdly, I'm neither a Christian nor an Aetheist nor anything else. I can read Tarot cards and I have degrees also in things as diverse as Criminology and Egyptology. I have a weakness for all kinds of nuts and for sparkling Perrier water. I can wield a spatula better than a screwdriver. I move around often ( tho' I dislike travel intensely! ) and who knows, I might even find a place one day that I want to stay in for more than five years! I am as bewildered and occasionally benighted by too much PC-ness as I am by rampant prejudice. I'm analytical, opinionated and occasionally outspoken but never crass and hopefully never tactless, more of an introvert than extrovert but not shy. I write, had some short stories published over the years, unpublished at novel-length yet, but I'd still do it even if that never happens, you know? It's just too much fun creating those fictional worlds to inhabit to give it up!

I think the kind of music a person listens to says a lot about them. I like Blues, 80's goth, pop, pomp rock, and 'hair bands', and some instrumental stuff like Tangerine Dream & Vangelis. I listen to some up-to-date stuff but not so much ...
If I had a Top Ten Tracks it'd be:
1. No Heaven - DJ Champion
2. Dominion - Sisters of Mercy
3. Hawkmoon 269 - U2
4. Heart & Soul - T'Pau
5. Ain't It Funny - Jennifer Lopez
6. Mercy - Duffy
7. Lucretia - Sisters of Mercy
8. Love Spreads - Stone Roses
9. Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus
10. Believer - Viva Voce
... So what does that say about me??? Other than I'm a bit of an 80's relic with questionable taste in music!

I'm primarily looking for open-minded open-hearted people to email with who will write frequent long, interesting tomes filled with thoughts, feelings, dreams, nightmares, philosophies, fantasies, speculations, certainties, discussions and debates. None of that three lines once in a blue moon, please. I don't care about your age, where you live, your race, or sexual identity. I don't have kids, don't want them either, and honestly, tho' I don't mind writing to anyone who does have kids, I have no concept of parenthood. Know that there is nothing in this world that either shocks, or embarrasses me, and I don't take offence easy. Be prepared that I will disagree with and challenge you! If there is a special someone out there and we happen to stumble across one another, well, so be it, but it's definitely not my primary concern. I like my own space and I'm well aware that someone like me is an acquired taste. 'Ms Right' would have to be someone kind of special to accept me! If I like you in that way, I'll let you know from the get-go. If the feeling is not reciprocated, but you want to be friends, that's cool too, just be honest with me. I won't water down or sugar-coat my truth for you, and I expect no less from you. Too many people say they want honesty but baulk when they actually find the real thing!

Otherwise, go on and give it a go. You really do never know.
What do you want to do now?
